10 Golden Points to Help You Score High

Has there been a time when you have been highly motivated, written down your list of goals, and then completely forgotten about it by the end of the week? You know what they say – motivation doesn’t last, neither does bathing; hence we recommend it daily! Motivating and inspiring yourself is one of the most important factors to achieve success, and is something that is completely in one’s own control. Yet, somehow, this is one area where most people fail to keep up. Here are a few tricks to inspire yourself to achieve your goals.

  1. Write down your goal and describe why you want it

Writing down helps you affirm it to yourself how much you want it. Most of us get stuck on the mechanism of how to achieve something, and forget the intent and passion behind it. If you look back to anything that you’ve been proud of, you’ll notice that there was nothing different that you did. You probably went all out to make it happen because you knew why you wanted it. Remind yourself of the ‘why’, and the ‘how’ will fall into place.

  1. Stick to one goal at a time

Ever seen a football match? All players of a team run towards one particular goal of one particular team. The ultimate aim might be to win the series by defeating all teams, but at that particular time, it is crucial to focus on one particular goal. Similarly, when you set out to achieve your goals, don’t let yourself get distracted by other goals. One step at a time is how you complete your journey.

  1. Think big, but start small

You might want a turnover of 100 crores in next 5 years, and that is your long-term goal. But five years is a long time from now, and it is easy to lose track and motivation keeping five years in mind. Keep your bigger goal in mind, but set smaller targets and work towards achieving them. Every small target achieved will lead you to the bigger goal.

  1. Announce!

Nothing motivates better than the pressure of performing once you have announced to the people around you. For instance, if you promise to gift your spouse a Mercedes E-class by the end of the year, you might end up forgetting it, but they sure will not! Announcing your goals makes people around you remind you and motivate you to constantly go forward.

  1. Surround yourself with positivity

One sure shot way to not achieve your goal is to be surrounded by the negativity of your daily life. Make sure that you take out time for yourself to read or watch positive articles or videos, or success stories, or simply motivational quotes. Print out your goals and put it up around your house. Set reminders for your activities. There are countless ways of surrounding yourself with positive things. It is also important to weed out the negative people in your life. Beware and stay away from all naysayers. Negativity spreads effortlessly, and if your company comprises of people who are always cribbing and complaining, chances are you will start doing the same. Instead, surround yourself with people who strive to perform, and perform to win.

There have been countless articles written on how to inspire and motivate yourself, and I am sure this one acts as a reminder to you. But I would like to share a small secret with you; if you know why you want something, you will go out and get it. There’s no two ways about it. So if you have set yourself a goal, and don’t know why you want to achieve it, take a pause. Sit down and give yourself some time; figure out why you want what you want, and don’t stop till you find your answer. Once you know your intent, you will be surprised how quickly the mechanism falls into place.
